Robert E. Clarkson, age 92, of 1422 Old State Road, Waterford, died at his home on Monday, May 19, 2008 after a period of failing health. Born on December 29, 1915 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Harry Edward and Katherine Stokey Clarkson. He married Lois James Clarkson on October 15, 1942 and she survives.
Mr. Clarkson has lived at his current address since moving there with his wife and family in 1948. After working at various employers over the years, he was employed as a tool and die maker for Penn-Union Electric in Edinboro for 21 years until his retirement in 1978. He enjoyed working the land on his farm and was known for his Belgian draft horses. He was a director of the original Waterford Fair Board and was a member of Draketown Christian Church.
Preceding him in death was a grandson, Joseph Gaitaniella, and a sister, Mary Louise Wilson.
Survivors in his family include his wife, Lois James Clarkson; his daughter, Carol Ann Roberts and her husband Charles of Mill Village; his son, Paul E. Clarkson and his wife Gwen of Waterford; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the Draketown Christian Church, 12460 Draketown Road, Edinboro on Thursday at 11:00am officiated by Pastor Ron Kennedy. Burial will be at the Clarkson Family Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Stancliff Hose Company of Waterford or to Draketown Christian Church. Arrangements are by the Van Matre Funeral Home of Waterford.
