Theodore “Ted” Janosik, age 87, of 2770 Old State Road, Waterford, died at Edinboro Manor on Friday, May 23, 2008. Born on July 10, 1920 in Cokeburg, PA, he was a son of the late John and Katherine Ondrasik Janosik. He married Madelyn Smith on June 22, 1946 and she survives.
Janosik, Theodore Ted resided at his family’s homestead on Old State Road in Washington Township since 1925. From 1936-38 he worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps in Maryland, and ever since he was self-employed working at jobs he loved–trapping and fur dealing, landscaping, and tree farming. He continued to trap even this last year and spent the last 33 winters trapping in Georgia.
He was a retired Deputy Conservation Officer with the PA Game Commission, a lifetime member of the NRA and the PA Trappers Association, by whom he was awarded Trapper of the Year in 1986-87, a member of the Georgia Wildlife Federation, Ducks Unlimited, and the wild Turkey Federation; also, the Eureka Masonic Lodge #366 and a former member of the Waterford Lions Club.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of almost 62 years, Madelyn Janosik, include his sister, Julia Karotko of Strasburg, PA, his brother, Joe Janosik and his wife Frieda of Waterford, and 3 nieces and 4 nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Stella Mullen, and two brothers, John and Tom Janosik.
