Parke David Johnson, age 75, died at his residence 25802 Crossingville Road, Edinboro, PA on Monday, May 26, 2008 following a long illness. Born on November 24, 1932 in Conneautville, PA, he was a son of the late Arthur Brown Johnson and Mildred Nichols Johnson. On May 25, 1985 he married the former Frances Viola Thompson and she survives. Following graduation from Conneautville High School, Parke began a lifelong career of truck driving. In earlier years he drove his own truck mainly doing cattle hauling and then for about 30 years he drove truck for I & A Construction out of Franklin, PA doing road paving. He retired in 1993 because of poor health. Parke belonged to the Teamsters Union out of Pittsurgh, was a member of Albion Moose and was a social member of Albion VFW. He enjoyed hunting, his pet dogs, and reading.
Johnson, Parke DavidSurviving family members in addition to his wife, Frances, of 23 years, include a son – Tim Johnson and his wife, Sandy of Franklin; four step sons – Richard Harvey and his wife, Judy of Conneaut, OH; Donald Harvey and his wife, Ann of Edinboro; William Harvey and his wife, Bonnie of Pierpoint, OH;and Quinn Harvey of Pierpoint, OH a daughter – Deanna Law and her husband, George of Springboro, PA; a sister – Arlene Smith of Heath, OH; sixteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A son – Joseph Johnson and a brother – Lyle Johnson preceded Parke in death.
Funeral services will be held from the Van Matre Family Funeral Home at 306 Erie Street, Edinboro, PA on Thursday morning at 11:00 am. Audrey McLaughlin, chaplain at Great Lakes Hospice, will officiate. No other visiting hours will be observed. Interment will be in Spring Cemetery, Springboro, PA.
