George Edward Lilley, age 70, died at his residence 24179 Wilkie Road, Cambridge Springs on Saturday morning, May 24, 2008. Born on January 28, 1938 in Meadville, PA, he was a son of the late Frank Lilley and Marguerite McCollough Lilley. He married Linda Malone (Krise) on September 30, 1995 and she survives. As a young lad he lived in several communities including Saegertown, Marienville, and Townville, but had lived at his current address in Cambridge Springs for the past 20 years. George was a hard worker and before he reached the age of 20 was considered to be an accomplished logger. Beginning in 1967 he woked for Ed Gallant Potatoe growers which he did for about 12 years. He then began a forty year employment with Lord Corporation in Cambridge Springs where he was in the maintenance department and was also a maintenace supervisor for a short time. Concurrent to his main employment he also enjoyed farming. A favorite past time of his was to race cars and he was well known as “Junk Yard George – No 23” in racing circles. George made friends easily and will be sadly missed by many.
He leaves behind his loving wife – Linda Malone (Krise); two sisters – Marise White of Spring Creek and Frances Andrews of Corry; six children – David Lilley and his wife, Paula of Saegertown; Don Lilley and his wife, Valerie of Corry; Tammy Moses and her husband, Sam of Meadville; John Robert Lilley and his companion, Kate Chismar of Morgantown, WV; Lisa Roberts and her husband, Cliff of Hopewell, PA; and Brian Krise and his wife, Cathy of Cambridge Springs. Tammy and John are children from his marriage to Judy. Fourteen grandchildren survive including – David, Jr.; Becky; Stephen; Rhett; Tayler; A.J.; John Robert Jr.; Katrina; Noelle; Dakota; Lindsey; Alyssa; Jesinda; and Jesseca. Also two great grandchildren – Dakota and Sierra survive.
No calling hours will be observed. A memorial service will be held at a future date to be announced. Memorials may be given to either the Mill Village Fire Department, Mill Village, PA 16427 or the Pioneer Steam & Gas Engine Society, 17420 S. Mosiertown Road, Saegertown, PA 16433.
