Glenn Christopher Surrena, age 35, of 12993 Rt. 19 South, Waterford, died at his home on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 after fighting a hard battle with cancer. Born on December 25, 1972, he is a son of Chauncey and Coleen Radaker Surrena of Waterford.
Glenn was a 1990 graduate of Fort LeBoeuf High School where he was Co-Captain of both the Bison Football and Basketball teams. He was employed as a plastics technician at Niagara Caps & Plugs of Erie for 13 years. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and NASCAR, and enjoyed woodworking. Most of all, he was devoted to and loved his family — he will always be remembered as a loving husband and dad.
His maternal grandfather Donald Radaker and an infant sister Lynnell preceded him in death.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife Margaret S. Reinwald Surrena, whom he married on November 25, 1995; three daughters, Corabeth, Camrin, and Mara Surrena, all at home; two brothers, Gregg Surrena of Jamestown, NY and Jason Surrena of Waterford; two sisters, Lora Bell and her husband Daniel of Waterford, and Lisa Dylewski and her husband William of Erie; his maternal grandmother Pauline Radaker of Waterford; his paternal grandparents Hubert and Katherine Sornberger of Erie; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Funeral Home, West 1st and Walnut Streets, Waterford, on Thursday from 7-9 pm, and on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be there on Saturday at 10:00 am, officiated by Pastor Bernhard Bischoff of the Lamb of God Lutheran Church of Erie. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
