Ronald Dean Lewis, age 64, resident of 24090 Middle Road, Cambridge Springs, PA died Sunday, July 27, 2008 at Presque Isle Rehabilitation Center in Erie. He had lived in the Cambridge Springs and Saegertown areas most of his life and was a resident at the Rehabilitation Center for the past five months. Born on October 3, 1943 in Meadville, he was a son of the late Ralph and Imogene Lake Lewis. He married Carol Swafford on July 30, 1966 and she survives.
Following high school graduation and serving in the US Army from 1960 until 1963, Ron received training and became a certified tool & die maker. He worked in the industry at Lake View Forge in Erie from 1985 until 2005 when he took early retirement. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and also boating and camping and most activities out-of-doors. In his home he maintained a small wood working shop where he enjoyed wood crafts and model airplane building. He made friends easily and was a member of the American Legion Post #111 in Meadville.
Family members surviving in addtion to his former wife, Carol Swafford Winans and her husband, Clark of Meadville include three sons – Brian Lewis of Meadville; Scott Lewis and his wife, Brenda of Saegertown; and Alan Lewis and his wife, Tabitha of Saegertown; four grandchildren – Brooke and Amanda Lewis; and Alexi and Ashlie Sherrill; and one aunt – Gerri Dougherty of Linesville.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 p.m. with Tim Depal, minister, officiating. Cremation will follow. Memorials may be made to American Legion Post # 111, 17137 Cussewago Road, Meadville, PA 16335.
