Wilma Frankie Snyder, age 68, of 13190 Cambridge Road, Edinboro, died Friday, July 11, 2008 at her home after a three-month illness. Born in Iva, SC on June 24, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Vergil Evans Simpson. She married Donald B. Snyder on August 8, 1965, and he survives.
Frankie graduated in 1962 from Southern Wesleyan University in Central, SC and taught Junior High English until becoming a mother and homemaker. Her faith in Christ was most important to her and as a member of the First Alliance Church of Erie, she used her God-given talents in music to glorify Him. She directed the Bells of Joy Handbell Choir, was one of the church pianists, and had previously directed several women’s vocal ensembles. She also enjoyed bicycling and hiking with her husband.
In addition to her loving husband, Donald B. Snyder, she is also survived by two sons, Doug Snyder of Gautier, Mississippi, and Jonn Snyder of Fairbanks, Alaska; two grandchildren, Sam and Raechel Snyder; three brothers, Truman Simpson of Rockford, IL, and Randy and Evans Simpson of Iva, SC.
Private calling hours will be held at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home of Edinboro with interment at Edinboro Cemetery. Friends are encouraged to attend a celebration of Frankie’s life Tuesday, July 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the First Alliance Church, 2939 Zimmerly Road, Erie, with Pastor Rick Crocker officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the First Alliance Church music program.
