Catharine Eckert, age 65, died unexpectedly at her home, 2748 Hwy # 19, Cochranton, PA on Wednesday, August 13, 2008. Born on November 4, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA, she was a daughter of the late Earl Currie and Vera Lindgren Currie. Until recently she had made her home in the Saegertown area for the past 62 years.
After graduating from Saegertown High School in 1960, she attended nursing school for a year. Following her marriage in 1969 she became primarily a home maker. However, she was employed for about 12 years beginning in the late 1980’s as the cashier at the Saegertown Quik Fill.
Catharine had a fascination for hot air baloons and she looked forward every year to the Thurston Classics. She was a cat lover and always had several as house pets. Interests of hers included reading, NASCAR racing (especially Jeff Gordon), and was an Elvis Presley fan owning many memorabilia articles of his.
Family surviving Catharine include a daughter – Julie-Marie Eckert and her daughter – Taryn Bair both of Saegertown; two sons – Robert Scott Eckert of Meadville and Charles Kevin Eckert and his wife, Elaine of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; her former husband – Michael R. Eckert of Saegertown; and a cousin – Rick Pederson and his wife, Alice of Warren, PA.
Memorial visiting hours will be held on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00. A memorial funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday evening at 8:00 p.m. Reverend Gretchen Crantz, Lutheran pastor, will officiate. Interment will take place in Venango Cemetery.
