William “Bill” A. Bogda, age 73, a resident of 22257 US Hwy # 6 & 19, Venango, PA died unexpectedly Saturday evening, September 20, 2008 at Meadville Medical Center, Meadville, PA. He had resided in the Cambridge Springs and Venango areas for the past 48 years. Born on June 14, 1935 in Cambridge Springs, PA, he was a son of the late Mike and Anna Jaskowvich Bogda. On January 21, 1956 he married the former Linda Baker Bogda and she survives.
An employee of Northwest Rural Electric Co-op in Cambridge Springs for 44 years, he retired in 1996 as chief lineman. Bill was a member of Cambridge Springs Covenant Masonic Lodge #473 and was nearing his 25th year of membership. He also was a member of Kismet Grotto and the Meadville Elks BPO # 219 for over 26 years. He enjoyed playing golf at the Riverside Golf Course in Cambridge Springs and at Venango Valley Golf Course. Especially enjoyable for Bill was sharing time with his morning coffee club buddies. He also liked to hunt and fish. Bill was considered to be a great family man and thorougly enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Linda, of 52 years, Bill is survived by a daughter – Crystal Chisholm and her husband, Joseph of Meadville; a son – Craig Bogda and his wife, Lori of Venango; three granddaughters – Sara Ruzza and her husband, Massimo; Meghan Chisholm; and Erin Bogda; a grandson – Adam Bogda; a sister – Katie Mitchell and her husband, James “Bud” Mitchell of Cambridge Springs; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding in death was a brother – Joseph Bogda.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9. Masonic funeral services will be held Tuesday evening at 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Venango Cemetery. Memorials may be made to either Venango Volunteer Fire Department, Venango, PA 16440 or Cambridge Area Volunteer Ambulance Service, 202 Venango Avenue, Cambridge Springs, PA 16403.
