Martha L. Grinnell, age 73, died unexpectedly at her home, 9865 Franklin Pike, Meadville, PA on Monday, September 22, 2008 of natural causes. Most of her life she lived in the Venango area and had lived at her Meadville address for the past four years. Born on August 15, 1935 in Harmonsburg, PA , she was a daughter of the late John Hedglin and Rena Beers Hedglin. Her first husband, Richard Reinhart, died in 1964 and she subsequently married Daniel Oscar Grinnell on October 15, 1966 who preceded her in death on December 17, 2002.
Grinnell, Martha L.Primarily a home maker, Martha had worked at the Cambridge Springs Presbyterian Home for 15 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Meadville Bible Baptist Church and a past member of Conrail Ladies Auxiliary of Meadville and of Meadville Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were important to her and she enjoyed spending time with each of them. A hobby of hers was doing cross word puzzles.
Preceding Martha in death in addition to her two husbands include a son – Warren Reinhart and two brothers – Reginald Hedglin and Elmer Hedglin. Surviving family members include – five sons – Richard Reinhart, Charles Reinhart and his wife, Margy, and Byron Reinhart all of Meadville; Bruce Grinnell and his wife, Brandy of Conneaut Lake; and Jerry Grinnell and his wife, Tina of Venango; a daughter – Renee Grinnell and her companion, James Denardi of Beckley, WV; a stepson – Daniel B. Grinnell and his wife, Leslie of VA; and a stepdaughter – Kathy Bell of Cambridge Springs; three sisters – Doreen Gehr and her husband, Harold of Conneautville; Deedee Reinhart and her husband, Duane of Linesville; and Shirley Brindle of Meadville; a brother – Russell Hedglin of OH; 20 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Wednesday from 7-9 pm and are invited to attend funeral services there on Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Phillip Thomas, pastor of the Bible Baptist Church of Meadville, will officiate. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Meadville.
