Betty May Maloney, age 87, of 11601 Eliason Road, Waterford, died Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Saint Vincent Health Center. Born December 26, 1920 in Erie, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Ethel Lang Forest. She married Edward Leo Maloney and he preceded her in death in 1989.
Maloney, Betty MayAfter graduating from East High School, Betty worked at Hammermill and General Electric for a few years until she was married and became a homemaker and a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed family gatherings and always looked forward to her daily walks. For much of her life, even in her later years, Betty would walk several miles a day around her neighborhood and enjoy seeing and talking to her neighbors.
In addition to her husband Edward, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Colleen Mitchell, a brother Ernest Forest, and a sister Gladys Dean.
Survivors include her two sons, Edward L. Maloney II and his wife Kathleen, and Mark G. Maloney and his wife Linda, all residing in Waterford; a sister Melva Flick of Erie; six grandchildren, Joshua Maloney and wife Jen, Rebecca Banta and husband Joe, Israel Maloney and wife Nancy, Terra Mitchell and husband Charlie, Jessica Maloney, and Jared Maloney; and a great-granddaughter Anna Mitchell.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Funeral Home, West First and Walnut Streets, Waterford on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held there on Monday at 11:00am with Pastor Jerry Warren of Harmony Baptist Church of Waterford, officiating.
