Pauline K. Radaker, age 85, of Summit Township, died Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at Saint Vincent Health Center after a short illness. Born in Erie on July 30, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Franz and Marie Brahms Kneidinger.
Radaker, Pauline K.Pauline grew up in Erie at her family’s homestead which is now the Stonehouse Inn. She married Donald E. Radaker on February 24, 1946 and they raised their children in that same house for many years. Although primarily a homemaker, Pauline was employed for a time at the former Meyser’s Grocery Store and Lovell’s Manufacturing. She loved making a home for her family and was an excellent cook and seamstress. She even enjoyed making clothing alterations for others.
She was a member of the All Saints Parish of Waterford, and was also affiliated with Weis Library United Methodist Church of Fairview. Pauline especially enjoyed being a grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and will always be remembered for her willingness to help others.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Donald, who died May 18, 1980; a daughter, Kathy Ellen Radaker; two grandchildren, Lynell Jean Surrena and Glenn Christopher Surrena; five brothers, Frank, Felix, Jack, Bill, and Raymond; and three sisters, Mary, Cecile, and Justine.
Family members that survive include three children, Coleen R. Surrena and her husband Chauncey of Waterford, Donald G. Radaker and his wife Becky of Fairview, and Karen L. Farley and her husband Al of Girard; also, 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Funeral Home, West First and Walnut Streets, Waterford, on Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00pm. Funeral services will be held there Saturday morning at 10:00am officiated by Rev. Fr. Thomas Whitman of All Saints Parish. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the All Saints Parish Building Fund or the Weis Library United Methodist Church Building Fund.
