Elizabeth (Libby) Steadman Munson Kramer, age 87, of McKean, died Saturday, November 8, 2008 at Saint Vincent Health Center. She was a resident of Manchester Presbyterian Lodge for the past 5 years. Born October 16, 1921 in Erie, she was a daughter of the late Fay and Florence Weibel Steadman.
Libby was a violinist with the Erie Philharmonic Orchestra for many years under the direction of John Metcalf, Fritz Mahler, and Dr. James Sample. A 1939 graduate of McKean High School, she studied violin with Margaret Arbuckle McDonald and Howard Schilken. Also, for 25 years she worked for the McKean School District as a secretary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Beverly Gae Munson Holmwood, a sister, Lois Davies, her first husband, Gerald Munson, and her second husband, Dr. Robert Kramer.
Survivors include her son, Gary Michael Munson and his wife, Sherrie, of Waterford; a son-in-law, Harry Holmwood and his wife, Betty, of McKean; a sister, Marian Russell of Waterford; two sisters-in-law, Ellen Munson of Grand Rapids, MI, and Jeanne Munson of Erie; also, 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, and 4 step-great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will take place at Sterrettania Cemetery in McKean. Memorials may be made to the McKean United Methodist Church or the McKean Hose Company.
