Miles L. Bausch, age 71, resident of 948 Beech Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA died Monday, December 1, 2008 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh following an extended illness. He lived in Pittsburgh for most of his adult life and was formerly of Venango. Born in Fairview, PA on March 22, 1937, he was a son of the late Frank W. Bausch and Orinda Streuchen Bausch.
Following graduation from Cambridge Springs High School, Miles entered and served his country in the US National Guard. Upon being discharged he attended college for four years and received a teaching degree in education. In 1962 he began a high school teaching career of 35 years all done at Trinity High School in Little Washington, PA. After retirement from teaching he began his own antique business known as the Mahla Company which was located in Pittsburgh. He dealt with every kind of antique, but glassware was his specialty. Miles never forgot his roots in Venango and Cambridge Springs and returned to the area often to especially be in touch with his family and his fellow school class mates.
Surviving is a companion of many years, Douglas Lucas of Pittsburgh; a brother – John Bausch of Venango; three nieces – Patricia Higgins of Cambridge Springs, Paulette Klinginsmith of Venango, and Shelley Bausch of Venango; a nephew – John B. Bausch, Jr. of Edinboro; and several great nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 and are invited to attend funeral services there on Friday morning at 11:00. Interment will be in Venango Cemetery.
