Arthur L. Greishaw Sr., age 73, of Waterford, died Friday, January 23, 2009 at his home after a long illness. Born in Erie on February 8, 1935, he was a son of the late Arthur E. and Elizabeth Smedley Greishaw.
For most of his life, Arthur worked as a mechanic on farm machinery and industrial equipment. He worked for many years at the Morrison Company of Erie and Sid Kuhn and Sons of Edinboro. After retiring, he enjoyed farming with his two sons and spending time with his family. He loved hunting and fishing, mowing lawn, playing solitaire, and visiting with his brother.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother Maryann Greishaw, a brother Verner P. Greishaw, a step-brother Tom Bulger, and a granddaughter Jillian Greishaw.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta M. Gora Greishaw, whom he married in 1965; three children, Cathy Greishaw of Waterford, Art Greishaw Jr. of Erie, and Allen Greishaw and his wife Heidi of Edinboro; four children from a previous marriage, all of whom were always in his heart, Marrene Kirsch and her husband Mark, and David Greishaw, all of Northeast, Dan Greishaw and his wife Patty of Buffalo, and Don Greishaw and his wife Valerie, also of Northeast; ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and his brother Edward Greishaw and his wife Iona of Jeffersonville, IN.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Funeral Home, West First and Walnut Streets, Waterford on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A Prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Monday afternoon at 1:30pm followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at All Saints Church at 2:00pm officiated by Fr. Thomas Whitman. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Union City.
