Rose M. Waid, age 91, died Thursday, January 1, 2009 at her home, 11338 LeBoeuf Trail Road, Centerville, PA. She had lived in the Townville area most of her life. Born on March 5, 1917 in Tryonville, PA, she was a daughter of the late Frank Ellsworth Steadman and Olive Adell Wood Steadman. Following the marriage of her first husband, Lyle Parker, she married Bruce Thompson, and following that marriage she married Buddy LeRoy Waid who preceded her in death on October 28, 1980. Together with her husband, Buddy, they owned the B. L. Waid Lumber Company in Townville where she was the bookkeeper for many years. Together they also owned and sponsored two semi-late and modified race car teams racing at Tri-City Speedway and other area race tracks as well as men’s soft ball teams. Rose had been involved with the Ladies Aid of Troy Center United Methodist Church and had been a member of the Titusville Veterans of Foreign War Auxillary. She enjoyed family and friends and playing dominoes and card games as well as gardening and yard work.
Family members surviving Rose include two sons – Richard Parker of Hydetown and Bruce Parker and his wife, Judy of Townville; a step-son – Donald L. Waid of Ashville, NC.; eleven grandchildren – Pam Subic and her husband, John of Key Largo, FL; Michael Parker and his wife, Lisa of Sarasota, FL; Bruce Parker and his wife, Linda of Perry, OH; David Parker and his wife, Gail of Saegertown; Barb Parker and her fiance, Russ Dempsey of Centerville; Randy Parker and his wife, Tina of Centerville; Jeanette Schweed and her husband, Bob of Sarasota, FL; Lisa Parker and her husband, Gary Coulter of Centerville; Larry Parker and his wife, Peggy of Sarasota, FL; Ronnie Parker, Jr. and his wife, Lorna of Saegertown; and Charmen Wheeling and her husband, Bud of Centerville; and a brother – Clyde (Mike) Steadman of Saegertown. Also surviving are 22 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Preceding Rose in death in addition to her parents and husbands were two sons – Larry Parker and Ronnie Parker; seven brothers -Rex, Clinton, James, Harry, Raymond (Pete), Charles, and Park Steadman; and five sisters – Bessie Ringer, Jessie Sterling, Opal Thomas, May Altenburg, and Edith Archer.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 and are invited to funeral services there on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in Kingsley Cemetery, Townville.
