Frank Alan Schropp, age 87, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at his residence, 27506 Beckman Road, Cambridge Springs, PA. He had been in failing health. Born on October 22, 1921 in Meadville, he was a son of the late Charles Leo Schropp, Sr. and Emmaretta Baldwin Schropp. On August 29, 1948 he married Anna Helen Petrick Schropp and she preceded him in death on January 2, 2007.
Frank was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Army in the Phillipines and New Zealand. After the military service, Frank became a auto – truck mechanic working from 1964 until 1975 for Reslink & Wiggers in Erie. From 1964 until his retirement in 1986 he was a tractor trailer driver for Norbert Cross in Union City. Frank was a member of American Legion Post #285, Waterford where he was active in bingo calling. He enjoyed hunting and NASCAR racing.
Preceding in death in addition to his parents and his wife were a brother – Charles Leo Schropp, Jr.; a sister – Elouise Woods; and a granddaughter – Alyssa Marie Galford. Surviving family members include a son – Frank A. Schroop, Jr. and his wife, Carolyn Yovonn Hall Schroop of Cambridge Springs; a daughter – Judy Ross of Erie; two grandsons – William Galford, Jr. and Michael Ross; and three great grandchildren – Mikah Ross, Meaira Balsiger, and Jenna Galford.
