Charlotte Ann “Pat” Parker, age 78, of McLane, died Sunday, April 26, 2009 with her daughter Lisa at her side in Lakeland, FL after a brief illness. Born December 16, 1930 in Fairview, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Hazel Wells Eastman. She married Howard Parker on April 4, 1951 and he preceded her in death in 2000.
Pat was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. For many years she also used her ability to care and nurture by providing childcare in her home for well over 100 children. She was a 1948 graduate of Edinboro High School and was a member of McLane Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Bible School, and belonged to the Missionary Society. Since 1992, Pat and Howard would spend their winters in Florida. Even after his death in 2000, she continued to go to spend time with her daughters. Pat liked to keep busy, so even in her spare time she would enjoy making crafts, crocheting, or reading. Many family members and friends have been the recipient of her skill in making afghan blankets.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Becky Yurcak in October 2008, a grandson, Patrick Mussett, and her brother, Merle “Butch” Eastman.
She will be sadly missed by her family which includes three daughters, Debbie Mussett of Girard, Diane Mihalak and husband Jim of Fairview, and Lisa Parker of Lakeland, FL; a son, Tom Parker and his wife Mary of Enumclaw, WA; a son-in-law, Ronnie Yurcak of Lutz, FL; seven grandchildren, Richie and Cory Yurcak, Becca Ryckman, Katie Ramey, Amanda and Hoyt Mihalak, and Eric Mussett; and a great-grandson, Ryan Ryckman.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home of Edinboro, 306 Erie Street, Edinboro on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held at the Bethel Presbyterian Church, 8990 Crane Road, Cranesville on Saturday at 12:00 noon. Rev. Dr. James Rimmer, pastor of the church, will officiate. Interment will follow at McLane Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
