Rae Marie Peters, age 74, of LeBoeuf Township, Waterford, died Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Hamot Medical Center after an extended illness. Born March 6, 1935 in Erie, she was the daughter of the late Clayton and Mildred Owens Dorman. She married Clyde H. “Red” Peters on September 17, 1955 and he survives.
As a homemaker and wife of a farmer, Mrs. Peters was dedicated to her family and to her husband as she worked by his side on their dairy farm for 54 years. She was a member of the Mill Village United Methodist Church and she enjoyed traveling with her husband. For several years they traveled around the country in their motor home and spent many winters enjoying Florida. Some of her other interests included caring for her roses, sewing, watching and feeding birds, and collecting teddy bears.
Preceding her in death was an infant son, and a granddaughter, Leah.
Family members that survive include her husband of almost 54 years, Clyde H. “Red” Peters; four children: Laura L. Gallant and her husband James of Cambridge Springs, Rustin A. Peters and his wife Sally, Ronald B. Peters and his wife Marilyn, and Kevin M. Peters and his wife Sandra, all of Waterford; and seven grandchildren: Rose Marie Gallant, Matthew and Steven Peters, Brian and Brandon Peters, and Kourtney and Tyler Peters.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford on Sunday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm and may attend the funeral service their on Monday at 11:00am. Rev. Betty Hollabaugh, pastor of Mill Village United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Waterford Cemetery.
