Patty A. Ross, age 75, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Presque Isle Rehabilitation Center, Erie after a seven months illness. Born on April 18, 1934 in Meadville, PA, she was a daughter of the late Cecil and Mary Deeter Swift. She resided at 425 South Main Street in Cambridge Springs for the past 20 years. On November 21, 1953 she married Dale Ross and he survives.
Ross, Patty A.A graduate of Cambridge Springs High School in 1952, Patty had early employment at Talon, Inc. in Meadville, Meadville City Hospital, and the Red & White Grocery in Cambridge Springs. In the 1970’s she began working as a dental assistant for Dr. William Haines at his dental office in Cambridge Springs from where she retired in 1997. During that time she never missed a day’s work because of illness. Patty was a member of the Woodcock United Methodist Church and enjoyed bowling, golf, flowers, and working with computers. She was a vivacious lady and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Patty was preceded in death in addition to her parents by a sister – Elaine Fosburg. Surviving family members include her husband, Dale, of 55 years; a daughter- Robin Smith and her friend – Lyle Ball of Saegertown; a son – Dennis Ross and his friend – Regina Bates of Saegertown; a granddaughter – Heather Smith of Cambridge Springs; two grandsons – Bradley Smith of Edinboro and Cory Ross of Cambridge Springs; three great grandsons – Isaac, Peyton, and Matthew; two brothers-in-law – David Ross and his wife, Charla of Saegertown and Waid Fosburg and his wife, Lorene of Cambridge Springs. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins and a special aunt – Gerri Mitchell of Cambridge Springs.
Friends may call at the Van Matre family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 and are invited to attend a funeral service there on Friday at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Gravel Run Cemetery, Woodcock Twp., Crawford County.
