Robert Clark Campbell, age 79, of Gravel Run Road, Saegertown, PA died Monday, May 25, 2009 at Crawford County Care Center in Saegertown. Born in Woodcock Township on November 2, 1929, he was a son of the late J. Roy Campbell and Laura Belle Humes Campbell. On May 14, 1955 he married the former Shirley Grace Sample and she survives.
Campbell, Robert ClarkBob graduated from Cambridge Springs High School in 1947 and then was engaged as a dairy farmer for over 65 years on the family farm located on Gravel Run Road. He had a strong work ethic and was recognized for his many achievements in agriculture. In 1957 he was named as the Meadville Jaycees Outstanding Farmer. In 1996 he became an owner of Venango Valley Inn and Golf Course and was instrumental in its development over the past several years. Bob was a Woodcock Township Supervisor from 1994 until 2001 and served on several advisory boards for various agencies. He was of the Christian faith.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a daughter, Colleen E. Taylor; his son-in-law – Charles Taylor; two brothers – Floyd Campbell and John Campbell; five sisters – Ruth Armstrong, Greta Laird, Bertha Newell, Alice Clarke, and Margaret Dahn together with their husbands; and a brother-in-law – Alton Rabell.
Family members surviving include his wife, Shirley, of Meadville; three sons – Roy A. Campbell and his wife, Catherine and their children – Alan and Jared of Meadville; Kimberly Loreno and her husband, Durbin and their children – Victoria and Lillian of Venango; Connie Ferguson and her husband, Dale and their children -Carmen and Ross of Saegertown; Lee Campbell and his wife, Julie and their children – Megan and Katherine of Hampton, NJ; Lynn Campbell and his wife, Renee and their children – Alexander and Aaron of Owasso, OK; and Carolyn Freund and her husband, Kevin and their children Kacie, Emily, and Daniel of Raleigh, NC. Also a sister – Edith Rabell of Meadville and a brother – Pressley Campbell and his wife, Shirley of Meadville; two sisters-in-law -Wilma Campbell and Betty Campbell; many nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition there are many friends, neighbors, and caregivers who will mourn his loss.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral services will be held there Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Don Gordon, pastor of the Gravel Run Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be in Venango Cemetery.
