Wanda Catherine Dedinsky, age 88, of 11640 Maple Lawn Drive, Edinboro, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Saint Vincent Health Center in Erie. Born on June 15, 1920 in Braddock, PA, she was a daughter of the late Antoni and Maria Wiglusz Szuminski.
Dedinsky, Wanda CatherineWanda moved with her family to Edinboro when she was 8 years old. She worked at various jobs in the Albion and Erie areas until she met and married her husband of 49 years, Joseph Paul Dedinsky. They were married April 29, 1944 and he preceded her in death on May 23, 1993.
She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening. She did work for a time at the Boston Store and also volunteered at the Holy Family Parish, and was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Church in Edinboro. Wanda was totally devoted to her family and God.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Joseph Paul Dedinsky, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph Thomas Dedinsky.
Survivors in the family that are saddened by her loss include 3 children: Larry J. Dedinsky of Erie, Thomas P. Dedinsky of Ripley, NY, and Patricia Ann McAndrew and her husband Terence, with whom she made her home in Edinboro; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Dedinsky Schwanbeck of Ripley, NY; 2 grandchildren, Carla M. Dedinsky and Brianna C. McAndrew; 2 great-grandchildren, Gavin Dedinsky and Cody Jones; 3 brothers: Walter Szuminski of Erie, Frank Szuminski and his wife Anne, also of Erie, and Joseph Szuminski and his wife Delores of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be private and will be held at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home of Edinboro, 306 Erie Street. Friends are invited to attend a prayer service there on Friday at 9:30am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at Our Lady of the Lake Church. Rev. Fr. John B. Jacquel will officiate. Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery, Crossingville.
