Kenneth Lemar Shelhamer, age 72, resident of Rolling Fields Nursing Home in Conneautville, PA died unexpectedly there on Sunday, May 3, 2009. Born on October 28, 1936 in Hayfield Twp., Crawford County, PA, he was a son of the late Kenneth Dale Shelhamer and Clara Leota Flick Shelhamer. As a young child, Kenneth was inflicted with an illness that was progressive and that physically handicapped him the remainder of his life. He attended several years of public school and then made his residence in Polk Center, Polk, PA, beginning in 1951. In 1989 he moved to Meadville and became a member of a group home where he resided until May 9, 2006 when he entered Rolling Fields.
Shelhamer, Kenneth LemarKen enjoyed his caregivers and friends that he made wherever he lived. He was an amicable fellow and was appreciative of the care he received. He particularly enjoyed fishing. His survivors include a number of cousins in the area too numerous to name. Among them are Donna Bish and her son, Jim Bish, both of Conneautville, who were his designated primary caregivers.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Wednesday from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 at the Funeral Home with Reverend Larry Corner, pastor of the Venango United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Venango Cemetery.
