Elizabeth Marie Jouver, age 94, died at her residence, 28511 Jouver Road, Cambridge Springs, PA after a period of failing health. She had lived in Richmond Township since 1955. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 9, 1915, she was a daughter of the late William Joseph Brucker and Blanche Haggarty Brucker. On November 26, 1942 she married Charles Anthony Jouver, Sr. and he preceded her in death on October 17, 1989.
Jouver, Elizabeth MariePrimarily a homemaker, Elizabeth worked for several years prior to her marriage and during the early 1930’s in the candy shop of Kaufmann’s Department Store in Pittsburgh. From 1963 until 1973 she worked in Cambridge Springs as a secretary for the Bush Insurance Agency. She was a member of the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Edinboro and was an organist there for over 20 years playing until she was in her mid eighties. Other memberships included the Edinboro Senior Citizens group, the Golden Living Center Auxiliary in Cambridge Springs, and the Friendship Club of North Richmond United Methodist Church. In all three organizations she served as secretary. She often played for church services in the Golden Living Center Nursing Home in Cambridge Springs and Edinboro Manor. In her free time Elizabeth enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles.
Surviving members of her family include four daughters – Mary J. Sorrentino of Chicago, IL; Kathleen D.Miller and her husband, Edward of Cambridge Springs; Teresa E. Jouver of Cambridge Springs; and Bernice M. Bonar of Oklahoma City, OK; two sons – Charles A. Jouver, Jr. and his wife, Sandra of Brunswick, ME; and William J. Jouver and his wife, Jaylene of Meadville. Ten grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren also survive as does a sister -Helen Jones of Oakdale, PA and a brother – John V. Brucker and his wife, Elizabeth of McMurray, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Edinboro Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend John Jacquel, pastor of the Church officiating. Interment will be in Cambridge Cemetery, Cambridge Springs.
