Luther Everett McLallen, Jr., age 79, died unexpectedly at Hamot Medical Center in Erie, PA on Saturday, September 19, 2009. Born in Washington Township, Erie County, PA on May 10, 1930, he was a son of the late Luther McLallen Sr. and Arleen Racop McLallen. His wife, the former Doris Jane Coyle whom he married on April 15, 1977, preceded him in death on October 17, 2003. Luther had a former marriage to Mary Shields whom he married on August 3, 1951.
McLallen, Luther Everett Jr.Luther lived most of his live in Washington Valley and worked there as a dairy farmer. He also worked as a tool and die maker and for a short time in maintenance. He was a member of the Washington Valley Christian Church.
Family members surviving Luther include two daughters – Susan Kahlbaugh and her husband, William of Albion and Janet McLallen of Townville; a son – David McLallen and his wife, Lisa of Erie; four grandchildren – Christine McLallen, Ian McLallen, Patrick McLallen and Hallie Maranchick; a step son – Mickey Van Scoy and his wife, Joyce of Martinex, CA and a step daughter – Colleen Raynes of Castor Valley, CA; two great grandchildren – Leiah and Liam; a step granddaughter – Lia Van Scoy and a special friend – Bob Davis of Edinboro. He was preceded in death by a step son – William.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 and are invited to funeral services at the Funeral Home on Wednesday at 2:00. Reverend Duane Pinney, pastor of the Washington Valley Christian Church , will officiate. Interment will be in Mitchell Cemetery.
