Robert L. Carr, age 84, resident of 12895 Kline Road, Edinboro, PA died Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Select Specialty Hospital, Erie, PA. Born on February 7, 1925 in Saegertown, PA, Robert was a son of the late Stuart Carr and Gertrude Manross Carr. He resided in Washington Twp., Erie County. In 1951 he married Ella Mortenson, now deceased. On August 21, 1987 he married Martha Ann Klie.
Carr, Robert L.Robert was a veteran of World War II, serving with the US Amphibious Navy on the USS LLM100. He was employed by Zurn Industries in Erie for over 30 years. Bob enjoyed golfing, hunting, camping, traveling, gardening, playing cards, and being outdoors. He was a member of Crossroads Community Church of McKean, Union City Country Club, Union City Lions Club, Waterford VFW, Edinboro American Legion Post #439, and Union City Moose Lodge #882. He also had been a Boy Scout Master and was a member of the National Rifle Association and the North American Hunting Club.
Loving family members who will cherish his memory are his wife – Martha, of 22 years; children – David (Terri) Carr of Niceville, FL; James (Thelma) Carr of Centerville; Reneva (Alan) Sweet of Edinboro; and Kerry Kerr (Charlene) of Albion; grandchildren – David Lee Carr, Tiffany (Jeff) Mathews, Jamison Carr, Aubriana Sweet, Alan Lee Sweet II, Aric Sweet, Avenee Sweet, William Kerr, Kevin Kerr, and Kimberly Kerr. Also surviving are great grandchildren – Seth and Michael Carr, Andrew, Ethan, Jonah, and baby girl Mathews; a brother – John Carr of Erie; two sisters – Ginny Kerr of Mill Village and Patricia Kingen of Waterford; a sister-in-law -Irene Carr of Union City; an adopted granddaughter-Misty Siegel; and his card playing, camping, and golfing friends. He was preceded in death by a brother – Nathan Carr and a sister – Beatrice Brown.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00. The funeral will begin at 4:00 and will be officiated by Reverend Jim Culbertson, Church Planting Director of the Allegheny District of the Evangelical Free Church of America. He will be assisted by Reverend Duane Pinney, pastor of the Washington Valley Christian Church.
