Darleen Ann Roberts, age 73, resident of 6050 Crane Road, Edinboro, PA died Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Saint Vincent Health Center in Erie, PA following a brief illness. Born on January 29, 1936 in Meadville, PA, she was a daughter of the late Nelson Jones and Marian Rhedmon Jones. On August 22, 1953 she married William Albert Roberts shortly following graduation from Edinboro High School and he preceded her in death on February 5, 1995.
At the early age of 14 and until 1969, Darleen worked as a book keeper for her father’s business – Jones Plumbing & Heating in Edinboro. From 1969 until 2003 she, together with her husband, owned and operated Roberts Auto Service located on Crane Road in Edinboro. During those later years she assisted her husband in a second business – Roberts Rental Service, also located on Crane Road. In addition, she was a notary public for over 25 years. Darleen considered herself most importantly as being a home maker and enjoyed sewing and cooking for her family. Holiday times when her family would gather together were very special for her. During her pastime she enjoyed reading.
Family members surviving Darleen include two sons – Bill Roberts and his wife, Jody of North East and Dan Roberts and his wife, Debora of Edinboro; a granddaughter – Kari Jo Moore and her husband, Brock of Erie; three grandsons -Dustin Roberts and his wife, Lauren of Myrtle Beach, SC; Clifton Roberts and his wife, Michelle of Cambridge Springs; and Mark Roberts of Myrtle Beach, SC; two sisters – Bunny Bucho and her husband, Dan of Edinboro and Joni English and her husband, Walter of Edinboro; two brothers – Dennis Jones and his wife, Barb of Edinboro and Fane Jones and his wife, Bitsy of Saegertown, Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home, 306 Erie Street, Edinboro on Friday from 7-9 and are invited to attend funeral services there on Saturday morning at 10:00. Reverend Clifford Cartwright, Christian Missionary Alliance minister will officiate.
I will always be grateful for Aunt Darleens helping us out as kids when we needed help. I think of her as a strong assertive person who was also kind and caring. She always knew how to steer you in the right direction. She will be dearly missed. And though we could not make it there we offer our warm condolences to the rest of the family- Brent , Terry, Lisa

so sorry to hear about your mom and grandma. She was always a pleasure to talk to everytime I would have to go out to the garage and sit for hours. Because jim never knew when to leave . So your mom alwys got stuck talking with me. She and her cakes will be sadly missed.
