Dixie Lee Ober McClimans, age 75, a longtime resident of Waterford, passed away at her Erie home surrounded by her children on Friday, November 6, 2009. Born in Union City on December 4, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Mildred Doud Ober.
Dixie was a graduate of Waterford High School and was married to William McClimans on June 23, 1958. He preceded her in death on February 21, 1999. She was a loving mother and grandmother who counted among her greatest blessings her children and grandchildren. Family gatherings and keeping up-to-date with the activities of her grandchildren provided much joy for Dixie over the years. She also loved to read and will most often be remembered as sitting at her table with a good book and a cup of coffee.
Her loving family which survives includes her four daughters and her son: Cherokee Holewski and husband Bernard of Waterford, Cheyenne Klonowski of Erie, Chippewa Causgrove of Waterford, Tina Scowden and husband Albert of Meadville, and Guy McClimans of Erie; also, her grandchildren, Emily Maier, Bryan Holewski, Andrew Causgrove, Jennifer Causgrove, Charles Kennedy, Rebecca Coolbeth, and Adam, Heather and MaryEllen Scowden; and her five great-grandchildren. Also considered part of the family, Dixie’s excellent caregiver, Fran Przybycien, to whom the family is grateful.
A graveside service will be held at Waterford Cemetery on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 11:00am. Dixie’s son-in-law, Bernard Holewski, will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Waterford Public Library, South Park Row, Waterford, PA 16441.
