Stephen Olynik, age 83, lifetime resident of Venango Township, Crawford County, PA died at Edinboro Manor in Edinboro on Saturday, January 16, 2010 after a long illness. Born on February 19, 1926 in Slickville, PA, he was a son of the late Nicholas Olynik and Mary Hnut Olynik. On November 7, 1970 he married the former Luella Mae Stafford and she preceded him in death on February 17, 2004. A dairy farmer all of his life, he also did custom combining for farmers in the area. Steve was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church of America which his father helped to construct. His was quite skilled at machinery repair and enjoyed what he called “tinkering”.
Olynik, StephenSurviving family members include a devoted sister – Josephine Olynik; 6 nieces, 3 nephews, 5 great nieces, 4 great nephews, 3 great great nieces and 1 great great nephew, a step daughter and 4 step sons. In addition to his wife and parents, Steve was preceded in death by two brothers – John and Charles; a half-brother – Michael; and a sister – Jean.
Friends may call at the Ss. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church of America in Crossingville on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9. Panikhida prayer services will be held there Tuesday evening at 8:00 and burial services will be held there Wednesday morning at 10:00. Reverend Dennis Hendershot, pastor of the Church will officiate. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Church, 25636 North Mosiertown Road, Edinboro, PA 16413.
