Burl H. Cooper, age 81 of Erie, went to join his family and friends in heaven on Saturday, February 27, 2010. He had been a patient in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Erie.
Cooper, Burl H.Born February 21, 1929 in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Rev. Charles Cooper and Mamie Cook Cooper. Burl served in the U.S. Air Force at Lakeland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX in 1948, and later worked as a machine operator at Uniflo in Erie where he retired after 36 years. He loved his family and friends and he enjoyed auctions. For the past 32 years he owned and operated Townhall Auction in Erie.
Burl left behind his loving wife of almost 50 years, Dorothy Mae Houpt Cooper; two daughters, Connie (Clark) Goodwill, and Dot (Cooper) Strange and her husband Lenny; three sons, Lloyd Cooper and his wife Kathy (Bokshan), James Cooper, and John Coleman and his wife Di; also, a brother, Charles L. Cooper and his wife Millie of Chicago, IL; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Funeral Home of Waterford on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm and may attend funeral services there on Wednesday at 11:00am. Burial will follow at LeBoeuf Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the family.
