Aloysius J. Rinderle, age 72, of Waterford, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Millcreek Community Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Erie on February 8, 1937, he was the son of the late Louis J. Rinderle and Gertrude R. Beer Rinderle.
Rinderle, Aloysius J.Al was a 1955 graduate of the Waterford Academy where he was well known for his talent on the baseball field. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. For 26 years, Al was employed at the former Continental Rubber Works, then for a short time he worked at Troyer Potato Products, finally retiring from the Fort LeBoeuf School District in 2003. He was a past member of the American Legion Post 285 in Waterford, he was an avid sports fan, and he enjoyed spending time with his nephews and other family members.
Survivors in his family include three brothers, Francis Rinderle and his wife Marie, and Louis Rinderle Jr. and his wife Paulette, all of Erie, and Richard Rinderle and his wife Tammy of Waterford; two sisters, Rita Rinderle and Mary Rinderle, both of Cambridge Springs; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be Friday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Van Matre Funeral Home of Waterford. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Saturday morning at 10:30am officiated by Rev. Fr. Stephen Schreiber of Saint George Church. Burial will follow at Trinity Cemetery.
