Barbara Ann Chase Sanders, age 75, of 611 Chestnut Street, Waterford, died Monday, March 22, 2010. She was born in Erie on November 8, 1934, the daughter of the late Fred and Anna Schrimper Chase.
Barbara was a 1953 graduate of Academy High School where she was a member of the Rainbow Girls, and she went on to graduate from Erie Business College. She married Maylon Sanders from LeBoeuf Township in 1958 and they settled in Waterford.
Barbara was a housewife who cherished her immediate and extended family. She enjoyed taking walks around Waterford where she was known as “the friendly one”, for she loved to stop and talk to people along the way. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church of Waterford, and she was an active member of the Pleasantview Garden Club, who elected her the “Sunshine Girl” for the last three years before she became ill in 2009.
Her family members include her husband, Maylon B. Sanders; four children: Cynthia Fleming and her husband Beryl of Erie, Colleen Porter and her husband Mark of Edinboro, Craig Sanders and his wife Marlies of Fairfield, CA, and Curtis Sanders of Waterford; and eight grandchildren: Erin, Megan, Ryan, and Sean Fleming; Rachel Porter Olszewski, Amanda and Austin Porter; and Brock Sanders. She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Edward Chase.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford, on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral services will take place at Asbury United Methodist Church, West 2nd and Walnut Streets, Waterford on Friday at 10:00am. Officiating will be Rev. Dennis Fetter, pastor of the church, and Chaplain Sonny Concepcion of Great Lakes Hospice. Interment will follow at Erie Cemetery.

Maylon & Curtis, I am so sorry to hear of Barb’s passing! I know it is a blessing though, so she no longer has to suffer & is now in a better place, just like Joyce! They can now continue their frindship! Wayne
