Nina M. Johnson, age 81, of Linesville and formerly of Union City, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2010 at Rolling Fields Nursing Home in Conneautville where she had resided since March.

Born in Union City on December 20, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Edward Hawley and Dorothy Randall Hawley, who became Dorothy Ramsey after marrying Kenneth C. Ramsey.

As a teenager, Nina worked summers at the Chautauqua Institute. Once she married La Verne R. Johnson in November of 1948, she became a fulltime homemaker and mother who especially enjoyed cooking for her family and collecting cookbooks.

Nina is the mother of two daughters, Darci Johnson and Oleta Johnson, both of Linesville. Other family members include her Aunt Audrey Zeigler of Plant City, FL and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, La Verne R. Johnson, who died August 29, 1998, and her half-brother, Donald Ripley.

Friends may call at the Van Matre Funeral Home of Waterford, 105 Walnut Street, on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held there on Friday afternoon at 2:00pm and will be officiated by Pastor Dan Baltic. Interment will follow at Waterford Cemetery.
