Irene M. Anderson, age 82, of Union City since 2000, died Friday, July 30, 2010 at Forestview Healthcare, Erie, PA where she presently was a resident. Born on July 27, 1928 in Lincolnville, PA, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth G. and Marie Sutter Brown. Prior to 1960 she worked as a cashier for Sterling Milk in Erie for nine years. From 1960 until 1968, while living in Buffalo, NY, she worked as a cashier for General Motors Acceptance Corporation and then for Ford Motor Credit as a “Red Carpet” lease terminator until her retirement in July of 2000. A former member of Cazanova Park Baptist Church in Buffalo, she presently was a member of the Union City Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. She enjoyed attending the Union City Senior Citizens Center.
Family members surviving include two daughters – Diana L. Shade and her husband, Rexford of Cambridge Springs and Sandra A. Haskins of Union City; four grandchildren – Shawn Haskins and his wife, Carol of Union City; Daniele Arndt and her husband, Eric of Erie; Amanda Burris and her husband, Matt of Brooklyn, NY; and Angela Holden and her husband, Jarrod of Venango; five great grandchildren – McKenna Haskins, Kylee Haskins, Shad Haskins, Elliot Arndt, and Erica Arndt; three sisters – Ruth Trojak of Union City, Ethel McGinnett and her husband, Clyde of Mill Village, Marylou Lipinski and her husband, Jack of Erie; two brothers – George Brown and his wife, Anita of Cambridge Springs and Glenn Brown of Lincolnville. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral services will be held at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Union City on Tuesday at 11:00 with the Reverend Tom Hunsberger pastor of the church officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Union City.
