Willard P. Humes, age 73, resident of 27635 State Hwy #408, Cambridge Springs, PA, died Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Meadville Medical Center, Meadville, PA following a brief illness. Born on March 15, 1937 in Richmond Twp., Crawford County, PA, he was a son of the late Clarence Humes and Martella Zebosky Humes. He lived his entire life in Richmond Township. On July 16, 1966 he married the former Jeanne Davis and she survives.
Following his high school education he was inducted into the US Army serving his country from 1960 until 1962 with the 7th Army Division in Germany. After his military service, he became a carpenter and mason, first working for his brother Edward Hume’s Construction Company for two years and then upon his death with his twin brother, Walter Humes. He retired in 1998. Willard was a member of Linesville VFW Post #7842 and enjoyed being out-of-doors, particularly hunting. He also enjoyed his dogs. His grandchildren meant so much to him.
Preceding Willard in death in addition to his parents were his two brothers, Ed and Walter. Surviving Willard in addition to his wife Jeanne of 44 years are two sons – Mike Humes and his wife, Melissa and Steven Humes and his wife, Leslie all of Cambridge Springs; two sisters – Isabel L. Smith of Saegertown and Dorothy Dudenhaver and her husband, Gerald of Meadville; three grandchildren – Gregory, Ryan, and Kirsten; a nephew – Rick Humes and a sister-in-law – Alice Humes of Cambridge Springs.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Tuesday from 1:00 until 3:00. Funeral services will be held there Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Harold Ferraro, pastor of the New Beginnings Church of God in Meadville officiating. Interment will be in Venango Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials may be given to the family via the Funeral Home.
