Arthur I. Myers, age 69, of 151 Kearney Avenue, Cambridge Springs, PA was called home to be with the Lord after a six year battle with Parkinson’s disease. His death occurred peaceably at his residence where he had lived since 1985. Art was born on April 30, 1941 in Saegertown, PA, the son of the late Ivan Myers and Lillian Bailey Myers. He married the former Beverley Kay Heister on April 9, 1986 and she remains to mourn his loss.
Art attended Saegertown area schools. Prior to 1985 for 21 years his employment included plant manager for Centrifugal Casting Company in Ravenna, OH; field manager for Sod Farms in Medina, OH; and several positions at Crown Steel Production in Orrville, OH as well as several other jobs including truck driving and managing a service station. Art’s most recent employment involved restoring antique tractors as well as doing general repairs at Dengler’s Farm Garage in Saegertown. Art also worked at Andover Industries, Meadville and had previously done body repair for Bundy’s Body Shop in Cambridge Springs.
Art attended Erie First Assembly of God on Oliver Road in Erie for 12 years and was a member of the Pioneer Steam and Gas Engine Society. He particulary enjoyed hunting and was known for his vegetable gardens.
In addition to his parents, Art was preceded in death by a sister – Dorothy; a son – Roy; a daughter – Annette; and a grandson – Daniel Young. He is survived by his loving wife – Beverly; five sons – Tim of Orrville, OH; Randy of Dalton, OH; Alec of Meadville, PA; Dave of Morgantown, PA; and Steve of Troy, NY; a daughter – Alice Young of Applecreek, OH; a step-daughter – Kelley Osborn of Titusville, PA; sixteen grandchildren and six brothers – Herman, Bob, John, Dan, Walt, and Ken.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 and to funeral services there on Tuesday at 10:00. Reverend Don Fisher, associate pastor of Erie First Assembly of God will officiate. Interment will be in Cambridge Cemetery.
