Helen Yusavage, age 87, resident of 21621 State Highway # 86, Cambridge Springs, PA, died Monday, August 23, 2010 at Meadville Medical Center, Meadville, PA following a short illness. Born on June 23, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Clyde McCall and Bessie Pond McCall. She had lived in the Cambridge area for the past 61 years. On May 14, 1949 she married George Yusavage and he passed away on July 25, 2009.

Yusavage, HelenAfter graduating from Meadville High School in 1942, Helen attended Meadville Commercial School. She then worked for Baird’s Grocery in Meadville until her marriage and after her marriage she worked at Isaly’s Dairy in Meadville for several years. From 1958 until her retirement in 1978 she was employed by Penn Teledyne Union in Edinboro. She returned to work for a short time in the dietary department at Springs Manor and finally at Alliance College both in Cambridge Springs.

Helen was a generous person and was very family oriented. Her special time of year was Christmas when she spent considerable time in decorating her house and baking fudge and other candies. She enjoyed ceramics, jig saw puzzles, and having house pets.

Surviving Helen are two sons – Thomas Yusavage and his wife, Jane of Edinboro and Todd Yusavage and his wife, Anita of North Huntingdon, PA; a daughter – Renee Pane and her husband, Anthony of Abington, VA; a grandson – Evan Yusavage; two step grandchildren – Gwenevere Hoopes and her husband, Bryan and Joshua Jones; and several nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by four sisters – Gladys Ferlin, Genevieve Walton, Thelma Stallard, and Ruth Nickerson; and a brother – Raymond McCall.

Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Wednesday from 3:00 until 4:00. Respecting Helen’s wishes there will be no viewing. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. with Reverend Rod Beardsley, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Cambridge Springs officiating. Interment will be in Cambridge Cemetery.
