Clive A. Bedow, age 76, of Waterford, died Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Millcreek Community Hospital. Born in Union City on May 27, 1934, he was a son of the late Clive Ellsworth and Genevieve Mildred Hart Bedow. He married Ruth E. Waha in 1953 and she survives.
Clive retired in 1996 from Edinboro University where he had worked in the maintenance department for 20 years. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 285 of Waterford and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Krol Post #6773 of Union City. Clive was a great father and a devoted husband who spent a lot of time with his sons. He enjoyed hunting, shooting pool, and going to his camp in Crawford County with his wife.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by three brothers: Donald, Raymond, and Lewis Bedow.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth E. Waha Bedow; four sons: Clive “Rich” Bedow and his wife Susan of Erie, Ronald R. Bedow and his wife Cathy of Waterford, Randy E. Bedow and his wife Marian of Erie, and Charles R. Bedow of Waterford and his girlfriend Sharon Stasiewski; also, 8 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, 4 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be at the Van Matre Funeral Home of Waterford on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held there on Friday morning at 11:00am officiated by Rev. Dennis Fetter of Asbury United Methodist Church of Waterford. Burial will full military honors will follow at Waterford Cemetery.
