Reverend Paul Allen Heiniger of Stebbins Road, Cussewago Township, Saegertown, PA entered the arms of his loving Saviour on Saturday, September 18, 2010. The death occurred shortly after he was involved in an automobile accident which may have resulted because of a health issue. The accident occurred on Route 6N, west of Edinboro near Eureka Road.
Paul was born in Chicago, IL, a son of the late Edward Heiniger and Myrtle Lindgren Heiniger. He was married to Barbara Goodell for 49 years before she preceded him in death on May 28, 2005. He subsequently married Beverly Miller on June 3, 2006 and she survives to mourn his loss.
A veteran of the Korean War, Paul served in the US Navy as a chaplain and as a torpedo man aboard the USS Harwood. Following his military service he attended and graduated from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. Over a ministry of more than 50 years, Paul lovingly pastored ten different churches located in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Iowa, and Minnesota. Presently he was member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church of Cussewago Township. Paul’s hobbies included fishing, woodworking, and playing table games with family and friends.
Family surviving Paul in addition to his wife, Beverly, include three children – Rebecca Heiniger of Pineville, NC, Paul Heiniger and his wife, Christine of Wurzburg, Germany, and Peter Heiniger and his wife, Shara of Bellingham, WA; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; his mother in-law – Thelma Miller of Saegertown; two sisters – Lois Monk of Maryville, MO; and Ruth Schroader of Wheaton, IL; a brother – Jim Heiniger and his wife, Laura of Oakbrook, IL. Additional survivors include two brother-in-laws – Ronald Miller and his wife, Mollie of Saegertown and Sam Miller and his wife, Jo of Middletown, CT and several nieces and nephews. Also two very especially close friends survive – Tom and Darla Boocks of Oil City and Reverend Dale and Audrey Adams of Meadville. He was preceded in death by two sisters -Betty Madary and Mary Heiniger and a brother – Jack Heiniger.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral services will be held there Saturday morning at 11:00. Reverend Ron Sheldon, pastor of the Cornerstone Baptist Church will officiate with Rev. Dale Adams, pastor of Donation Hill Church assisting.
