Shirley Jean Luce, age 78, resident of 26529 Sherwood Drive, Cambridge Springs, PA died after a three week’s illness at Andover Retirement Community in Andover, Ohio on Sunday, November 21, 2010. She was born on October 6, 1932 in Pitcairn, Pa, daughter of the late Emmett Donahue and Lola Hott Donahue. On October 6, 1932 she married Robert E. Luce who preceded her in death on May 7, 2003. Following graduation from Cambridge Springs High School, she was employed by Alliance College for 26 years as a house keeper and then for the State Correctional Institution in Cambridge Springs as a locksmith for seven years before retiring in 1997.
Shirley enjoyed her family, particularly her grandchildren, and her many friends. She also enjoyed playing golf.
Surviving family members of Shirley include two sons – Ronald Luce of Venango and Larry Luce of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren – Lynn Dysart and her husband, Rick of Belle Center, OH; Honesty Thayer and her husband, Philip of Cambridge Springs; Tim Luce of Venango; and Amber Luce of Belle Center, Oh; and two great grandchildren – Gracie and Ryan Thayer. Shirley was preceded in death by five sisters.
Visitation and funeral services are not being planned at this time.
Sorry for your loss. Shirley always had a smile & was willing to help us at the Elementary School when we needed help.
She loved her family & grandchildren very much & spoke of them often.
