Marjorie M. Crawford, 89, resident of Niagara Village, Erie, PA died at 5:14 a.m., Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at Saint Vincent Health Center, Erie, PA where she had been a patient for seven days. Mrs. Crawford was born on May 31, 1921 in Syracuse, NY, a daughter of the late Norman S. Goudy and Winifred Gee Goudy.
As a homemaker, Mrs. Crawford lived in Castleton-On-Hudson, NY for 17 years and in Lewisburg, PA for 31 years before moving to Cambridge Springs, PA in 2002 following the death of her husband. She spent her last three years at Niagara Village in Erie, PA.
She was an avid gardener and enjoyed playing golf. She had a wry sense of humor and would quote the poetry of Ogden Nash whenever the occasion called for it.
Surviving are three sons – Stuart C. Crawford of New Orleans, LA; William T. Crawford and his wife, Kathleen of Cambridge Springs; and Jeffrey C. Crawford and his wife, Shirley of Ramsey, NJ; and one daughter – Jean M. Hacker of Valatie, NY. She is also survived by ten grandchildren -Peter Crawford of Somerville, MA; Amy (Crawford) Engquist of Jamestown, NY; Abigail (Crawford) Gilmore of Spartansburg, PA; Eli Crawford of Seattle; Eva Crawford of New York City; Ryan (Hacker) Morris of Castleton, NY; Aaron Hacker of Valatie, NY; Kristi Hacker of Brooklyn, NY; Christie Crawford and Chase Crawford of Ramsey, NJ. She had four great-grandchildren with a fifth due in February.
Mrs. Crawford was preceded in death by her husband – Charles E. Crawford who died on August 30, 2001 eight days after their 59th wedding anniversary; a brother – Donald Goudy and a sister – Lucille Goudy Haase.
Friends may attend a memorial visitation at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Saturday evening from 7 – 9 pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Liverpool, NY. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 823 Filmore, Erie, PA 16505.
