Nancy L. Dunn Shorts, age 69, resident of Crawford County Care Center for the past 14 months and formerly of 23804 North Mosiertown Road, Saegertown passed away at the Care Center on Thursday, December 23, 2010. She had been in failing health for the past two years. She was born March 4, 1941, in Meadville, PA, the daughter of the late James L. Dunn and Thora L. “Sally” Shearer Dunn. She attended Cambridge Springs High School and graduated from Penncrest School District. Nancy was first married to Edward C. Shaw, father of her children, and subsequently married Robert Cage who preceded her in death. She then married her soul mate, Lynford Shorts, who also preceded her in death.
Recently Nancy retired as a warehouse manager from R. Kibbee Distributing in Edinboro. She attended the McLane Church of Edinboro and was a board member of the Johnston Cemetery Association (formerly Dunn Cemetery) of Meadville, Pa.
Nancy was an avid fan of the television show ????ancing With the Stars????, an avid Steelers football fan, and was a bird watcher and bird food provider for many years. She had a love of music all of her life and especially enjoyed marching band performances. She will be greatly missed by her ????irds???? as well as all of those who knew and loved her.
Nancy will be deeply missed by her five children – Janet Mallory of Meadville; Peggy Dilley and her husband, Christopher of Meadville; James Shaw and his wife, Kimberly of Townville; Kimberley Hurst and her husband, Ken of Saegertown; and Rick Shaw and his wife, Paula of Saegertown; her eight grandchildren – Jerry Smith and his wife, Shannon; Jodie Deane and her husband, Scott; Mark Steele; Todd Shaw; Travis Shaw; Ebony Baxter; her little guy who was very dear to her heart – Connor Shaw; and her newest born granddaughter – Makenna Shaw. Also a precious great-granddaughter – Jazlyn Smith; three nieces and three nephews; two step children – Tracy Chiodo and her husband, David of Charlotte, NC and Tim Shorts and his wife, Ivy of Meadville, Pa. Additionally Nancy is survived by three sisters – Shirley Rose and her husband, Donald of Waterford; Beverly Kibbee and her husband, Robert of Saegertown; and Kathy Ireland and her husband, Joe of Lewisburg, PA.
In addition to her father, mother and two husbands, Nancy was preceded in death by a grandson- Franklin Steele.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Monday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 at the Funeral Home with Mark Rusnak, Ascera Care Chaplain, officiating. Final disposition will be cremation with the cremated remains to be interred privately in Johnston Cemetery, Bailey Road, Meadville. Remembrance memorials may be made the Johnston Cemetery Association, in care of Pauline Hartick, 16720 Bailey Road, Meadville, Pa. or the Crawford County Care Center, 20881 Hwy # 198, Saegertown, PA 16433.
