Bertha Mae Williams Boyd died peacefully Thursday, February 24, 2011 at her daughter?????s home near Union City. Born in Waterford, January 20, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Ethel Donnell Williams.
Bertha was preceded in death last October by her husband of 64 years, Raymond Boyd. His constant companion, they lived most of their married life together in the house they built on their farm in LeBoeuf Township. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Waterford, and was active in the Mill Village and Waterford communities.
Also preceding her in death were her sisters, Carrie Robertson and infant Marion Elizabeth, and her brothers Arthur, Charles, Wallace, Willis and Lytle.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy (Rod) Mitchell of Waterford and Carol (Keith) Troyer of Union City; five grandchildren- Brian Mitchell of Waterford, Rhonda (Chris) Napier of Cary, NC, Clay (Wen Ling) Troyer of Taiwan, Kyle (Lindsey) Troyer of Ruther Glen, VA, and Luke Troyer of Alexandria, VA; also, five great-grandchildren, Briana, Shelby, Ryan, Tyler, and Sonora; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford on Monday from 4-8 pm. Funeral services will take place there on Tuesday at 11:00 am with burial following at Waterford Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Missy, from Home Instead, for her loving companionship the last few weeks of Bertha?????s life.
Memorial donations may be made to the Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation or to the Mill Village Volunteer Fire Department.
