Barbara Jean Severance Gibson, age 67, of Waterford, passed away in her home on Tuesday, February 1, 2011, following a lengthy illness. She was born December 27, 1943, the daughter of the late Albert and Helen Jackson Severance of Edinboro.

Gibson, Barbara Jean SeveranceBarbara graduated from General McLane High School. She worked at Elgin Electronics for many years and married her husband, Ronald C. Gibson, with whom she shared 45 loving years. She loved and treasured her three children and three grandchildren. She was a “mom” to countless other children throughout her life, including her nephew Jeffrey Dodge, her nieces Cheryl Ishman, Cynthia Kucenski, Jennifer Lloyd and Suzanne Russell and their families, who were all such a strong system of support and love to Barbara and her family throughout her life and her long illness.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three sisters, Joyce Severance, Leona Hill, and Patricia Nesbitt; her eight brothers, Bill, Melvin, George, Delbert, Kenneth, Clarence, David, and Ronald Severance; her father and mother-in-law, Clarence “Hoot” and Beatrice Gibson; and Priscilla Gibson Dodge.

She is survived by her husband Ronald Gibson; two sons, Michael Gibson of Palm Harbor, FL, and Douglas Gibson of Waterford; one daughter, Andrea Gibson Faulhaber and her husband Dana, and three grandchildren, Daina Leora, Torrey James and Shelby Jean Faulhaber, all of Cambridge Springs; three sisters, Mrs. George (Ann) Watts and Miss Ida Severance, both of Edinboro, and Mrs. Ted (Janet) Roan of Saxonburg, PA; a sister-in-law, Annette Confer; and a brother-in-law, Robert “Terry” Gibson and his wife, Nesa, and their children.

Friends may call at the Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford on Sunday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Harry Johns officiating. Interment will be in Waterford Cemetery.
