David H. Hull, age 67 of Waterford, died Saturday, April 9, 2011 at UPMC Hamot after a lengthy illness. Born in Erie on July 18, 1943, he was the son of the late Harold and Louise Hoover Hull. He married Sue Elder on August 8, 1964 and she survives.
For 18 years, David was the manager of Dahlkemper’s in Erie, and over the years he had also worked at Doolittle’s Market in Waterford, Best Lock, and Security Systems of America where he retired from in 2004. As a member of the Waterford community, David served on Borough Council, was Mayor for a two-year term, and had been a member of Stancliff Hose Company.
Most important to David was his family and his personal relationship with God. He was a member and past officer of the Gideons International, and as a member of the Waterford Church of the Nazarene for many years, he had served in many ways including Board Member and Treasurer, Sunday School teacher, and Music Director. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and he enjoyed camping and politics.
His family members include his beloved wife, Sue Elder Hull; two sons, Michael H. Hull and his wife Becky, and Jeffrey D. Hull, all of Waterford; four grandchildren, Michael E. Hull and wife Amanda, and Jessica, Marissa, and Jarrod Hull; two great-grandchildren, Lillian and Sophia Hull; and a brother Charles Hull and his wife Jean of Corry.
Visiting hours and funeral services will take place at the Waterford Church of the Nazarene, 128 Cherry Street, Waterford. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with the funeral service Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Gregory Jack officiating. Burial will follow at Waterford Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in David’s memory to the Waterford Church of the Nazarene.
Everyone,
I’m so sorry I can’t be there for the funeral, but I want you to know I’m thinking about you. Seems like only yesterday that I was meeting Dave, Sue and Jeff for the first time at the Log Cabin restaurant in Waterford. Now Mike and Becky’s oldest son is a father himself, and the other children are so big they make me feel ancient. That’s what happens, I guess: Time sneaks away from us until one day it’s gone. Dave made the most of his time, I think. He took care of his wife, guided his children and grandchildren, and was there to see and love his great-grandchildren, too. It was a full life. I’m sad that’s he’s gone, sad that you’re mourning, but you can take comfort in knowing that his was a life well spent. Treasure the memories.

The Corry Area School District sends our prayers and sympathy for you and your family… Dave wasn’t just a saleman to us but a true friend. He loved people and always thought of his customers first. He was never happy unless we were happy, a true sign of a good man. Everyone who had a chance to work with Dave knows that he always talked about his family and how much he loved them. He is going home to new life but the world he has left behind will miss him……Peace to all.
I will miss our drives to PBFAA Board Meetings and the long chats we would have. I always respected your drive and enthusiasm and professionalism.
To your family I extend my condolences during this difficult time.
Dave, you will be missed. Some of my fondest memories are playing trumpet with you in the Erie Church of the Nazarene. Hang around the Eastern Gate, for I’ll catch up with you soon, and we can play our trumpets there thoughout eternity.
Sue, God bless you and the family. Your entire family was always an inspiration to Kay and myself.
We love and will miss him;
Don and Kay Acton
