Robert Milton “Tank” Humes, Jr., age 49, lifelong resident of 25512 Drake Street, Cambridge Springs, PA, died Sunday, April 3, 2011 at UPMC Hamot in Erie after an extended illness. Born in Erie, PA on June 29, 1961, he was a son of the late Robert Milton Humes and Frances “Fran” Ellen Watson Humes.
Tank enjoyed volunteering for numerous local organizations and was active with Helping Hands of Cambridge Springs where he had served as president. He also assisted at the Cambridge Springs Food Pantry and with the WQLN Television telethon. He had been a nurse’s aid at Edinboro Manor and had been a caregiver through the Office of Student Disabilities at Edinboro University. Tank enjoyed playing Bingo.
Family members surviving Tank include nine siblings – Gary Watson and his wife, Linda of Youngstown, OH; Pat Glenn of Cambridge Springs; Janet Humes and her husband, Charles of Cambridge Springs; Linda Stafford and her husband, James of Waterford; Judy Mitchell and her husband, John of Gadscen, AL; Karen Weiland and her husband, David of Erie; Steven R. Humes of Meadville; Gary W. Humes and his wife, Paula of Cambridge Springs; and Larry W. Humes of Venango. Included among survivors is a special friend – Penny Yurcak and her husband, David of Cambridge Springs and a brother-in-law – Bob Stafford of Waterford. Preceding in death in addition to his parents was a sister – Kathy Stafford in 2008.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial services at Draketown Christian Church on Thursday, April 7th at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Ron Kennedy, pastor of the Church, officiating.
Memorial gifts may be given directly to the family by way of the Van Matre Family Funeral Home, 335 Venango Avenue, Cambridge Springs, PA 16403.
I just want to offer my condolences on the pasing of Tank. I have not seen him in many years, but I still have fond memories of him when I was younger You are all in my prayers.

I had the pleasure of being Tank’s nurse a couple years ago. No matter how bad he felt he was always kind and pleasant. Since I left that job I have thought of him frequently and fondly. I am very sorry for your family’s loss, he was one of kind.
