Elizabeth J. (Lindenberger) Holes passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 1st, 2011 surrounded by her loving family at Saint Vincent Health Center. She was born in Erie on June 9th, 1927, a daughter of the late John and Mildred Lindenberger.

Holes, Elizabeth J. (Lindenberger)Betty was a former member of Calvary Evangelical Covenant Church. She enjoyed playing cards, knitting, crocheting, taking family photos, and collecting ????uild-A-Bear?????s????. Her greatest love and enjoyment came from time spent with her family. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed by her family.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, John (Jack) and James Lindenberger, and son-in-law William Berchtold.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Fordyce J. Holes of Erie; three daughters and two sons: Arlene Berchtold of Erie, Barbara Henry and her husband Randy of Erie, Crystal Taylor and her husband Alan of Waterford, Barry Holes and his wife Chris of Naples, FL, and Jeffrey Holes and his wife Emily of Waterford. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren: Andrew, Tracy, and Kelley Berchtold of Erie; Stephanie Nuhfer of Maryland; Jason, Ryan, Rachael, and Zack Henry of Erie; Brianne Skelton of Waterford, and Justin Taylor of Charlotte NC; Clint, Jared, Tyler, and Katie Holes of Naples FL; Tori, Courtney, Jacob, and Caleb Holes of Waterford; and nine great-grandchildren: twins Sean and Karlee Berchtold and Brandon Burnett, baby boy Nuhfer expected in September; Elexis, Kaden, and Gavyn Henry; Kiernan and Kamden Skelton; and Peyton Diers Holes; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford, on Friday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held there on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Emily J. Zeig officiating. Burial will follow at Erie County Memorial Gardens.
