Ashley Nicole Van Dyke Yingling, age 24, of Sharp Road, Waterford, died at home on Monday, June 13, 2011 after a 2 1/2 year battle with cancer. The daughter of Gerald P. Van Dyke of Union City and Lorraine Orbanick Frownfelter of Waterford, she was born in Erie on August 24, 1986.

Yingling, Ashley Nicole Van DykeA 2004 graduate of Fort LeBoeuf High School, Ashley attended Mercyhurst College 1 year before deciding to start a family. She had a great appreciation for music and art, was a amateur photographer and liked to express herself with body art. She cherished her son, Adonis, and loved being a stay-at-home mom and an aunt to her nieces and nephews. Ashley enjoyed flower gardening and she supported the Lymphoma Society and the American Cancer Society.

Ashley’s family includes her son, Adonis Cain Yingling; her parents: Gerald P. Van Dyke of Union City and Lorraine Frownfelter and husband Larry of Waterford; a brother, Andrew Justin Van Dyke and fianc???e Erin Hiner of Waterford; grandfather, Stanley Orbanick and wife Jennifer of Erie, and grandmother, Pauline Kennedy of Vero Beach, FL; three step-sisters: Melissa Frownfelter and fianc??? Billy Fromeyer, Kristen Ambrose and husband Brian, and Stephanie Frownfelter, all of Erie; her great-aunt and godmother, Stephanie Rameriz and husband Elkin of Waterford; her former husband, Allen Yingling; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Patricia Marsh, and her grandfather, Paul Van Dyke.

Friends may call at the Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will take place there on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Nancy Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Mill Village Cemetery.
