Gerald Clare Ross, age 66, resident of 31705 Sturgis Road, Union City, PA died unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at UPMC Hamot in Erie, PA. He had been ill for the past four months. Born on October 28,1944 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Gerald Kirch Ross and Virginia Lord Ross.
Two years after graduating from Cambridge Springs High School in 1963, Gerald began working as an assembler of electrical components for General Electric in Erie and was looking forward to his soon retirement. He belonged to Electrical Union # 506 of Erie.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by two sisters – Judy Styborski and her husband, Ted of Conneaut Lake and Matilda Houser of Union City; a brother – Richard L. Ross of Deltona, FL; six nieces and nephews – Ted J. Styborski and his wife, Gretchen; Karen E. Styborski and Brent McConnell; Tina A. Lawson and her husband, Jeff; Gerry R. Houser; Matthew Ross; and Heather Layton and her husband, Justin. He is also survived by three great nieces and great nephews – Niki Baik and her husband, Eddie; Leighanne Young and her husband, Shawn; Ashley Hanlon and her husband, Jeff; and six great great nieces and nephews – Hunter, Cole, Taylor, Brock, Bailey Rose, and Morgan.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home, 335 Venango Avenue, Cambridge Springs on Friday from 7-9 and on Saturday from 11 until 1 p.m. at which time funeral services will begin. Officiating will be Reverend Dave Brumagin, associate pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church in Conneaut Lake. Memorials may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Road, Meadville, PA 16335. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry, PA.
We are so deeply saddened by Gerald’s tragic and untimely death. What a tremendous loss to all of his family and friends. Please know that all of your cousins in Arizona are with you in Spirit and in prayer. May God’s richest blessings come to you all in the midst of your time of grief.
