Valentyna Andriyivna Kuznetsova, age 86, passed away at the home of her daughter Svetlana Ferrese – 13753 Kline Road, Edinboro, PA on Saturday evening. Born on May 7, 1925 in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine, she was the daughter of the late Andriy Olexiyovich Lykin and Anastasiya Antonivna Lykin.
After the German occupation of the Ukraine in 1944, she entered the Russian Air Corp training school where she studied radio operation, navigation, and parachuting. During the war she met Victor Ivanovich Kuvnetsov and they were married in 1946 in Vienna, Austria. Together they established their home in Dnepropetrovsk where they resided until his passing in 1988. She continued to live in the Ukraine until October of 2004 when she came to the Edinboro area and made her home with her daughter.
Surviving Valentyna is her daughter – Svetlana Ferrese and her husband, James of Edinboro and her granddaughter – Valentyna Horchler and her husband, William of Mercer.
Friends may call at Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church, 8442 Pageville Road, Edinboro, PA on Monday morning from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Saint Nicholas Alter Society Fund.
